Japan is an amazing country, and easily one of my favourites from the trip so far. From it's vibrant culture to it's insane technology, Japan is a must-see.
SOME HELPFUL FACTS
Best mode of transport:
The public system in Japan is incredible. Subways run on time to the second, buses go to every tourist location you could possibly think of, and trains between cities are regular and prompt. Every platform lists every stop you will be going to, and most announcements are in English as well as Japanese. All of this comes at a price though, but on average we only spent about $5 a day while exploring the city, and JR Passes are available. It feels like you can't walk 100m without finding another subway entrance.
Which side do they drive on
The left. Trains also travel like this, so you can easily tell whether you're headed in the right direction.
Toilet stuff
The toilets in Japan are like the future. They are heated, have sprays and air and even play sound for the shy, or just those who love calming sounds when they pee.
Can I drink the tap water
Yes! The water is clean and delicious. Drink all the water (and tea) you want!
Money customs
In Japan, they use the local currency, Yen. It is rude to hand the money over directly, so most places will have a tray for you to put the money in, and collect the change from. Sometimes it can be hard to break a 10,000yen note ($120AUD)
