Today I visited a little place called "Tombstone" which had a huge silver boom in the late 1800s. It's an understatement to say not much has changed since then.
Walking into the town was like walking back into history, with the whole main street closed off to cars, only home to horse-drawn carriages, people in period outfits, and slightly confused looking tourists.
The old courthouse was really interesting, with plenty of local history, and information about the old west in general, but the best part was definitely just the main street.
I also went to a short play with plenty of fake gunfights which was incredibly entertaining, even if the audience did not know how to follow instructions (cheer when a good guy comes on stage, boo when a bad guy wearing a red sash comes on stage).
The cemetery was slightly uncomfortable though, as it was all completely re-made, but on the original site, so there were tombstones with funny phrases, where the people actually were buried.
